How it works
Where your home address can show up
- Your service (correspondence) address on a director or secretary appointment.
- A registered office, often from a company you set up at home.
- Your PSC entry (person with significant control).
- Past filings: incorporation papers, appointments and change-of-address forms stay on the record even after you change the address, and even after a company is dissolved.
- Copy sites that republish Companies House data, people-search sites, and Google results.
The fixes (from GOV.UK, checked 19 Oct 2026)
- Live company, current address: change your service address or the registered office online. It's free.
- Past filings: apply with form SR01 to remove your home address from documents already on the register. Companies House charges £34 per document. You pay them through GOV.UK Pay, then email the form and payment reference to dsr@companieshouse.gov.uk, or post it with a cheque. It can't remove a live company's current registered office. For a dissolved company, only the first half of the postcode stays visible.
- Protection from credit reference agencies, or full protection: these cost £100 each and are only for people at serious risk of violence or intimidation. We explain who's eligible. Making a false statement is an offence.
- Copy sites: ask them to refresh or erase the address under UK GDPR. Our letters are ready to fill in and send yourself.
- Google: use "Results about you" to ask for results showing your home address to be removed.
